Sant Antoni de Portmany

Sant Antoni de Portmany is a town located on the western coast of Ibiza. In old times its name was San Antonio Abad. But today visitors from Great Britain, Australia and other English-speaking tourists still call it San Antonio. The town is the second-largest town on Ibiza, which belongs to the Spanish Balearic Islands. For many ages Sant Antoni was a small fishing village but it in 1950s there were built many hotels and tourist resorts. There are not many sights in Sant Antoni as on the other islands of the Mediterranean Sea such as the biggest island of the Mediterranean - Sicily, but still it can boast with some unusual attractions. The Main attraction of Sant Antoni is the Egg, located in the centre of the town. The Egg is a statue devoted to Christopher Columbus, because locals are sure that the great discoverer was born on their island.

Another attraction of Sant Antoni is its harbourside promenade Passeig de ses Fonts. It was built to improve the appearance of the town. There are many plants, including palm trees and rubber plants, as well as massive fountains, which are illuminated by night.

There are also located many restaurants and cafes with a view over the bay. The most popular are Café del Mar, Savannah, Café Mambo Ibiza Kanya, Sunsea Cafe and Coastline Café. Some of the bars are unusual and provide swimming pools and luxury apartments. But these apartments are not comparable with those you can book in the hotels of Sant Antoni de Portmany.

From the mid 1990s Ibiza is known as the best area of night clubs and DJs in the world. It was especially popular among the British clubbers, who were attracted by such events as the Ibiza Uncovered series on Sky TV. In Sant Antoni are located two of the main Ibiza nightclubs Eden and Es Paradis, where you can enjoy the performances of the world's biggest DJs and promoters. Regular DJs include: Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Groove Armada, 2manydjs, Nathan Viva, Alex Ellenger and more. Promoters include: Judgement Sundays, Garlands & Twice As Nice & Inside Out.
